My blog has been so lonely with just a few visitors since it was born about 20 days ago. It has been shouting to me, “I want visitors!” How can I announce the birth of my blog to the world?
Finally, my blog went out to Google’s yard. ” Google AdWords enables us to advertise the site with very reasonable policy. Advertisers pay only for the number of clicks and, and can assign a maximum cost-per-click as well as daily budgets. Though, there are some tips I found for an effective advertising.
Key word
Do not use top search terms or general words. Pick “specific” key words that match the site. that match the site. For example, I used the term “new media for health” instead of just “new media.” Otherwise, my ad would have to compete with high number of other advertisements.
Besides, placing specific keywords can target only people who fit into the site, leading to a higher number of clicks. The more your ad is clicked, in better position your ad can be placed. If you are running an on-line shopping mall, using specific key words is more important. Readers who click but don’t end up buying will only cost the advertisement fee without corresponding sales.
Advertisement text
Learn what your competitors claim in their ads, and differentiate yours from them. For example, when I searched for “Health Communication” (Figure 1), there were several ads, but none of them used the term “new media” in their texts. So I did it. “New Media” is one of the fanciest words nowadays. This term makes my site look unique:). Just one result with search term “new media for health” (Figure 2).

Though I am getting to know how Google AdWords are operated, there are still things I have to explore continuously. The position of my ad keeps changing. I guess it depends on my Ad Rank, which is determined by the matched keyword’s cost-per-click (CPC) bid and Quality Score. The CTR (click through rate) seems to be an important factor to determine the Quality Score. I will analyze my account report that Goole AdWords provide, and evaluate my keyword performance (Figure 3) to find out optimal terms for better CTR.

Once I master Goole AdWords, I may be ready to start a new business. With Google AdWords, I can spend $ 100, but earn 100 million. I HOPE!!
For the time being, I will just be happy as an active citizen of a Google World (Figure 4).

Way to get your ads to show up! Nice post w/ good description. Thank you.
